‘We’re Loving it’ - McDonalds excels in Investors in People

McDonalds were delighted to be awarded Investors in People accreditation recently which in turn has helped them achieve some remarkable results despite the recent economic downturn. They have seen a significant rise of 10% in sales and 78% of employees revealed they feel proud to work there.

IIP is an invaluable business tool which they have used to develop commitment throughout the company and has assisted in creating a passionate team of people who really feel they really belong. As demonstrated at McDonalds, using IIP practices has aided positive management skills in training and development resulting in a contented and productive workforce.

Working with IIP identified that graduates had a fulfilling career path and that some had turned their backs on potential careers in areas such as the law sector. Percentages relating to their recent review make it clear that McDonald’s values are at the heart of the company. They include the following;

  • 82% felt their training was directly linked to the business objective
  • 80% of new recruits believe they get the training they need.
  • 80% of staff understand and believe they are being trained well and helped with their career paths.
  • 100% of employees felt that any feedback they gave was listened to and used to make improvements within the company

Steve Easterbrook, chief executive and president of McDonald's UK comments:

"If you get the people right the rest will follow and after the results delivered by Investors in People I can say that it’s apparent we are certainly getting it right. I have never underestimated the challenge of staff retention and contentment which are absolutely fundamental to a successful business. Achieving Investors in People recognition just highlights how we strive to achieve high standards and it has helped us to refine the good practice we already have in place."
